Weddings Anna Loves
Dearly Beloved-
Ever since the question of "Is this a permanent communion of souls/hearts/minds?" came up, and we went and did something about it (privately engaged 8/08, publicly engaged 1/09, engaged-with-a-date as of 6/2/10 *yay*), I, the female portion of this mad-hattery, have been hunting. Rabidly and voraciously on the prowl one might say. Not for the prefect dress - I'll be making that! But weddings in general. Backyard, foresty, earthy, community-y, eastern-y weddings about PEOPLE, not stuff. People saying they would love each other in front of a bunch of people that love them.
The first thing I stumbled across was a Quaker wedding, which linked back to the illustrious, the original, the sacred, the irreverent Offbeat Bride.

How positive! How creative! How original! How inventing-a-subculture-all-its-own!
I bought the book, and read the website for two years. It was a college buddy of mine, one might say.
What has happened over the last two years is a copious quantity of pre-planning. We planned for a late fall outdoor wedding, an early spring indoor wedding, a courthouse wedding followed by dinner with the family, an outright elopement, an August wedding, an elopement and a party, and finally, due to circumstances of school, work, and a general understanding that even if we were not sure where life was taking us we are jolly-well-going-together, we settled on the glorious September 18th, 2010.
Still you might wonder, what is this wedding going to be like?
I sent many, many emails to Cory of wedding profiles. These are a few of my favorites, for one reason or another. There will not be any copy-catting, but the spirit of these weddings shines out!
